MARDI MICHELS is a full-time French teacher to elementary school-aged boys and the author of eat. live. travel. write--a blog focusing on culinary adventures near and far. As part of her job, she runs cooking classes for boys aged 7 to 14, called Les Petits Chefs and Cooking Basics. Mardi grew up in Australia, lived and taught in Paris for over five years and now calls Toronto home. In 2014, Mardi and her husband purchased a historic home in southwest France, which they operate as a vacation rental property. This cookbook is amazing! My daughter is 16 and has taken a few years of French. This amazing, easy to follow cookbook really explains the prep and cooking process.

It's so important to think about multi-generational cooking these days, what with the busy world we live in, and this book addresses that need with ease and fun. I love that it's got something for everyone. It's sophisticated enough to keep the attention of an advanced grownup chef, yet so thoroughly explained and broken down, that children will happily cook from it as well.

Mardi perfectly balances her recipes to ensure the delicious â€œreal foodâ€ recipes she shares are attainable for young cooks, while desirable to all palates. Leveraging years as in instructor to boys aged 7-12 (Les Petits Chefs), she knows first hand how much they can accomplish with a bit of guidance and the right recipe. Enlightening to many of us who default to aiming for â€œkid foodâ€ when cooking with our children, I only wish this book was published when my sons were a bit younger. But they are benefiting from it now, and I am learning a trick or two myself ! The anecdotes, personal history and stunning photos (oh those little hands !!) just add to the universal appeal. Iâ€™ve used her tip for buying the â€œpetits-beurreâ€ cookie cutters and attached them to copies of the book as a gift !

Iâ€™ve followed Mardi for years as she has shared her love of French food with her littles. Theyâ€™ve had great adventures. Now she is sharing her recipes with this book! I happen to be making her recipe for baguettes right now. Great recipes that will challenge your young chef...and truth be told, will likely become a go-to for adults as well. Her enthusiasm and joy in both the food and the kids make this a great cookbook. Iâ€™ll be ordering more at the holidays. Great gift!!

I love to cook with my kids and this book is terrific. The recipes are simple enough for children to follow but yield sophisticated flavors that both adults and kids would enjoy. Every page we turn, we want to try another one! There really is something for everyone's tastes. We can highly recommend the quick croissants and the eclairs for a fun (and French!) delicious treat!

So far I've tried three recipes from this, all of which worked out perfectly - including making my own choux pastry for two batches of gougÃ¨res / cheese puffs (for the second batch I used a much better Swiss gruyere, which I'd recommend, but they were almost as good with the basic supermarket cheddar). The recipes are really straightforward and use pretty common ingredients, the ones I've tried at least were remarkably quick to put together too: cheese puffs, a strawberry tart, and crispy fish with lemon (I doubled the lemon zest, but only because I love lemon). The strawberry tart was beautiful - and ridiculously Instagram-friendly. We have a lot of raspberries in New York right now so I'm planning to try this with raspberries next.

From birth, my 9 year old has always been a reluctant eater. I've bought loads of "kids" cookbooks, in the hopes that getting him involved in the process would make him more likely to eat what he's made. This is the first one that makes REAL food that a person with tastebuds would actually want to eat, with clear step-by-step instructions. So many kids cookbooks have vague, frustrating recipes for "cute" food. I don't care if it's shaped like an animal--if it doesn't taste good, my kid isn't going to eat it. The recipes that my son and I have made from In the French Kitchen with Kids have all turned out great, and most importantly, MY SON ATE THEM and wanted to help cook them. So far, we've made Steak Frites, Pork Chops with Apples, Crunchy Fish Cakes, Rustic Oven-Baked Ratatouille, and Buttery Green Beans with Toasted Almonds. Mardi Michels knows her way around French food, AND knows how to get kids involved in the kitchen. HIGHLY recommend!

My teens like to eat and it was time to get them in the kitchen. You can tell this book was written with a lot of knowledge of teaching kids and with a lot of love. My two kids (12 and 15) have enjoyed picking out recipes and making things. The nice part is that it built their confidence in the kitchen and has made them excited to try cooking (and eating!) new things.

Not sure why there aren't more 5 stars on this. While this is jensons older work, this is a totally compelling work on Lutheranism. Highly recommend!

This was used as a textbook for a diakonia class. It helped explain and put into context the various documents in the Book of Concord. I like how it noted which sections of which documents were covered by each chapter; however, the referenced titles of the sections/articles for these documents did not always match what was used in my edition of the Book of Concord.

This was a present for a friend. She thought it was obtuse and easily confusing.

I write this review as an ecumenically-minded Eastern Orthodox Christian who enjoys the study of Lutheranism, esp. the theology of Philip Melanchthon, the father of systematic Lutheranism.Keep in mind that this book came out in 1976 and has not been updated. So when it comes to addressing the "issues of the day", something that the authors don't do all that much on, they mention the Vietnam War (from a very left-wing perspective) and race relations. This wonderful introduction to the heart of Lutheran theology and ethics screams for an updated version, one that addresses more relevant issues like recent events in the ecumenical movement (e.g., the 1998 Joint Declaration on Justification between the Lutheran World Federation and the Roman Catholic Church), women's ordination, the sexual revolution & birth control, euthanasia, abortion, and homosexuality.Two important things must be kept in mind by the reader. First, this work attempts to address the various issues while always keeping at the fore the Lutheran emphasis on justification by faith. That is the primary lens by which all else is viewed. Second, the authors do a great job comparing and contrasting the core of systematic Lutheranism: Melanchthon (Augsburg Confession, Apology to same, Treatise on the Power & Primacy of the Pope, his Loci Communes, and his other writings), Luther (Smalcald Articles, his two catechisms, and various writings), and the final outline and boundaries as set in the Formula of Concord (which tends to be more Luther over Melanchthon). This is not a one-sided picture, but one that tries to show the various discussions by "Philippists" and "Gnesio-Lutherans" in the 1540s-1570s and the final compromises made in the 1570s.One reason I like of this work is that the authors accept the premise that Lutheranism remains a work in progress. That the Book of Concord sets some boundaries. But that there is much in the Lutheran message that may still be developed if only Lutheranism really took seriously the core messages of Law-Gospel and Justification, esp. in regard to removing or at least reducing residual influences of philosophy, both that of Aristotle as well as the medieval Roman Catholic scholastics, which Melanchthon, Luther, et al tended to accept without realizing how it impacted the transmission of their thoughts.My only real complaint is that often the authors seem more to hint at issues or ideas without giving specific examples as to how they are to be addressed. We see this, for example, in regard to their views on the episcopacy. They present some views and ideas but then don't really state any specific conclusion, esp. as what they view as being normative or definitive (I get the impression they are very favorable to bishops).My two minor asides, which shows my EO bias, are (1) that there isn't much discussion about the Lutheran liturgy or liturgics. Some good discussion about the Eucharistic real presence, but not much about the overall shape and structure of the Lutheran liturgy, and (2) the same is also true for the lack of discussion about the canon of scripture.I strongly recommend this work to any ecumenically-minded Christians as well as anyone, including Lutherans, who want to learn more about 16th century Lutheranism, its major thinkers of that day, and the Lutheran confessions.

This is a good introduction to Lutheranism as it approaches the subject from both an historical and a theological approach. That alone is salutary given that Lutheranism did not come about in a vacuum and while repeatedly appealing to "Scripture alone" traditional Lutheranism has always avoided a "nuda Scriptura" approach to Scripture common among "Bible and non-denominational" churches. Lutheranism has always understood itself in light of Luther's struggles and honest Lutherans have always conceded Luther's deep imprint on the religion as a whole.The topics covered are broad and comprehensive. My caveat is that the book's presentation of Lutheranism is not without its biases. Most notably an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) bias such that even more traditional and even more confessionally minded Lutherans might be displeased by a number of the authors' assumptions such as their description of the Formula of Concord's Christology as a monstrosity.Still a good intro, though this should be read only as one resource among many.

I bought this book because I needed to learn the foundation of drawing flowers. I was never terrible before but it was always a hit or miss and often times I'd be sitting there staring at my page thinking I don't know what I'm doing at all. But I bought the book and saw results that I would have never DREAMED of, and the crazy part is that they were instant. I started doodling and I'm like what the heck I can actually draw! Most how-to books give you some tips and it takes time but somehow Alli dummy-proofed this and it blew my mind! Seriously, amazing! Can't wait to have more time to go through it all. Thanks Alli for sharing your knowledge and making me feel so much more confident in my ability to draw!

I'm a handlettering and watercolor artist who regularly uses florals to enhance my work. I am always struggling to think of flowers (I usually just make up imaginary florals to be honest) so when I saw this book I knew I had to have it. First of all, this book as absolutely gorgeous and I would buy it for that reason alone. Secondly and more importantly, Alli's instructions are so clear and helpful if you're looking to step up your floral illustrations. You will surprise yourself every time you finish drawing a flower and it turns out so beautifully! Some may be concerned that they'll be drawing the same version of each flower every time or copying Alli's exactly, however her written instructions give insight into the characteristics of each flower and more generalized guidance on her approach to each step so that you can start branching out into drawing your own versions. I've almost made it through the whole book and I already feel that I'm better at visualizing each piece of the flower (like the twists and turns of the petals) as I'm drawing. I see myself referencing this book regularly for inspiration and instruction when I'm looking to draw florals!

I own well over 200 art books including dozens on floral drawing and painting. If I had to choose just one as the most useful it would be this one by Alli Koch. Alli takes you step by step in drawing each type of flower ( the book covers a variety of flowers) and gives you space on every page to practice each step. As the final step inlearning each flower there is a full page to practice the complete blossom. That immediate practice area gives you great feedback before you move on to the next step. Other books offer steps but usually I don't bother to get out a sketch pad and immediately work to see if I am internalizing those steps. I love getting the immediate feedback of seeing if my lines and shading correctly compare to Ali's models.Love this book and would definitely purchase any others that Alli may publish on other flowers or other drawing topics. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for the best way to draw sweet peas with their multiple folds, tulips, daisies, peonies,anemones, sunflowers, dogwoods, camellias, magnolias, proteas,hydrangeas, carnations, lilacs, dahlias, ranunculus, succulents and various leaves.

I'm surprised this hasn't been noted yet, but there were a few things that slipped past the editor of this book- pages 35-45 are missing, and in their place are pages 83-94 (so they're in it twice). Maybe it only happened with a certain printing batch- but either way, I feel a little shafted!Despite these issues, I think the book is beautiful and I like how it has so many varieties of flowers.Hope to see these problems revised in an updated edition!

First off, I don't typically write reviews. Like, EVER. I bought this with the hope that I would become more confident in my skills as a professional doodler. I don't have one artistic bone in my body, but the step-by-step instructions in How to Draw Modern Florals made drawing so simple for me. This was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time!

You should have seen me try to draw anything floral before. I opened this book thinking it would probably take me a little longer than others to catch on because I am truly a beginner to drawing flowers but Alli makes it SO SEAMLESS. Her step by step makes you understand WHY you draw the lines you draw. Not to mention the design of the book is just gorgeous. I could not recommend this book more!! ðŸ–¤âœ¨I attached a picture of what my first try was. Yes, that was my first try. I hope my first kid comes out that perfect. Just saying.

I work at a really boring telemarketing job where I have a lot of random spurts of downtime, but not enough time to actually do "work" so I decided to grab this book. It's been so freaking great--it basically saves my life in the down time. Plus, I've been following Ali on instagram for a hot minute, so I love her as a person, but then to experience her creativity in a whole other venue has been so cool. It's inspiring not only in creativity but in story. 10//10 would recommend.

Love this inspirational book. But if the author would have had it edited by a qualified editor it could have been so much better, since the grammar flaws and sentence fragments are somewhat distracting. However, the message did find it's way into my heart. I hope this author keeps writing these kinds of books. We sure need them in today's world.

I read this book as part two of two, back to back with Conquered by the Viking. It may be read as a standalone but is far better when read together with the second book. These two books are similar to Ms. Barker's trilogy of Her Rogue Viking, Her Dark Viking, and Her Celtic Captor. They take us through a bit of the expansion of the Viking culture through the spirit of some of it's people. It further explores the melding of the Viking and Celtic peoples.Although beautifully historical, there is plenty of spanking, hot (mÃ©nage) sex and D/s within the relationship of the main characters but with less BDSM than in some of the author's other works that I have read. The stories and excellent writing really helped me to feel the desires, drives and personal goals of Vikings and Celts during this period. The books have action, adventure and adversity, but superior HEA endings for a lot of characters. The HEAs in part two are even more satisfying and uplifting than at the end of part one.

I enjoyed this story. I have read the other related Viking stories by Ashe Barker and like them all. I know some have bashed these stories for not always being period specific but I just enjoy what is there and don't give that much thought.

So, Vikings, Celts, spankings, and hot twins? Where can I sign up for this? Do you think that Ashe Barker maybe has a time machine that I can borrow for a little while? That would just be totally awesome.Nyle and Bodwyn are twin Celt brothers who get taken on a Viking raid. The Vikings killed their parents and took Nyle's betrothed as well. When they get back to the Norseland, Nyle, who was already in rough shape, manages to get himself beat even more. Meanwhile, Bodwyn gets loose and manages to save a Viking woman, Kristen, from falling in the harbor, which ends up with him getting caught again and him nearly getting whipped. Luckily, a man steps him and buys him, saving Bodwyn from getting more than 3 lashes.Three years later, Bodwyn is a bitter man who hates all Vikings, even his very generous master. No one knows where Nyle is, and Kristen, the Viking woman who Bodwyn saved, is in an unhappy marriage to a much older man who doesn't value her at all. A chance meeting puts Bodwyn and Kristen face to face again.I really loved Kristen. She's very smart, fairly acerbic, and very sharp. She knows her worth. She knows what she wants and what she can do to get there. She's not afraid to tell people any of that either. It causes her some problems, especially when it comes to her husband and step-sons, who are just major jerks to begin with.Bodwyn. Hmmmm... I get why he's angry. I would probably be angry too. But, he lets that anger turn him bitter and somewhat mean. I mean, yeah, he's a thrall, but the man who owns him doesn't really treat him that way at all. He also gets angry at other Vikings in the story who don't deserve his anger.Nyle has a lot of reason to hate Vikings, but he doesn't. He seems to have no problem separating himself from the people who did terrible things to him from the people who didn't.Altogether, it's an interesting journey for all 3 major characters, but I think that Bodwyn actually has the larger journey. Definitely a great book.

I may not be able to pronounce all the names correctly, but my imagination more that makes up for this shortfall. Yes, the chemistry is always steamy, but the highlight is the storyline that is gripping, filled with tension, and takes you back to another time to the point you feel and smell the sea and village life and real life fades away. We visit and catch up with past favorite characters and meet new ones who have an unconventional plan, but one that is guaranteed to fuel your fantasies and leave you wanting more. Iâ€™d give more than 5 stars if I could - great read.

Ok, I usually like Ashe Barker books but I just didnâ€™t get this one. I donâ€™t understand why a Viking noble woman would want a couple of penniless ex slaves who are basically sponging off their sister and demand that she submit to them. Folks, she is the one with the ship! She is the one with the money but suddenly because they decided it was so, they are "partners", and Ashe Barker failed to explain it to me. I donâ€™t understand why our heroine didnâ€™t throw them out of her house after they held her down and beat her with a belt for no clear reason. Thatâ€™s where you lost me and tipped the believability scale to "no, I don't think so." Ms. Barker usually makes me believe that the punishment is justified and truly for the womanâ€™s own good and done from a position of love, but not this time. This time I really thought the girl didnâ€™t deserve what they did to her. It felt like they were just beating her into submission because they hadnâ€™t earned her submission. Ultimately the best books are about love and loving discipline not forced submission. Submission should be given as a gift to your man because you love him so much you can't bear to disappoint him and you trust him so much you'd follow him anywhere.These guys just didn't do it for me. They werenâ€™t Vikings. They werenâ€™t warriors. They were just ex slave farmers with no real skills. Hot, only goes so far and only last for about five or ten years until the beer bellies kick in. There has to be more. The Celt's behavior kind of smacked of marriage to the rich, (comparatively speaking) widow to get ahead in life. Smart but not that great for the widow. I didnâ€™t feel the love.

Carroll addresses the actions of the Bush administration, with particular emphasis on the ethical and moral shortcomings that have killed thousands of Iraqis and Afghans, mauled thousands more, have killed a thousand American young people and mauled an unknown number. The preemptive wars started by Bush have succeeded only in costing us the friendship of most of our former allies and have multiplied the number of enemies who hate us.

No comparison with the format of Constantines Sword. Obviously a gathering and resale of newspaper articles on more current topics.

As always, a deeply personal, and honest appraisal of what we all lived through.Carroll is an excellent and clear writer.

His insightful volume "Crusade: Chronicles of an Unjust War" takes the reader from the tragedy of 9/11 to the launching of the Iraq War as well as shrewdly monitoring its continuing impact.Carroll realizes immediately that a calamitous result will occur from shifting the focus away from al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden following 9/11 to Iraq and the objective of toppling Saddam Hussein. "When the president speaks, unscripted, from his own moral center," Carroll writes, "what shows itself is a bottomless void. To address concerns about the savage violence engulfing `postwar' Iraq with a cocksure `Bring `em on!' (as he did last week) is to display an absence of imagination shocking in a man of such authority. It showed a lack of capacity to identify either with enraged Iraqis who must rise to such a taunt, or with young GIs who must now answer for it. Even in relationships to his own soldiers, there is nothing at the core of this man but visceral meanness." He goes on to describe Bush as a "selfless president," which he sees "not a compliment" but "a warning."One area where Carroll sharply criticizes the Bush Administration is in the misuse of intelligence. Rather than seeking answers by following the facts wherever they may lead and formulating policy based on those hardheaded, realistic conclusions, he sees the Bush Administration as tailoring circumstances to fit its own desires. Under such circumstances policies are motivated by propaganda rather than intelligence assessments. The classic illustration was the rush to war to protect Americans from a perceived attack in which Saddam Hussein would release "weapons of mass destruction" that never existed. A UN inspection team's work was precluded in the rush to war.As a perceptive student of history, Carroll decries lost diplomatic opportunities that were lost at the conclusion of World War Two. Rather than take the lead in seeking to put an end to the creation of nuclear weapons, the U.S. and Soviet Union instead entered into a protracted Cold War. This brought the world to the precipice of destruction through a nuclear exchange. A balance of terror was substituted for creative diplomacy and an objective of world disarmament.With the ability of terrorists to make small nuclear weapons that can be carried in a suitcase, and the corresponding capability of unleashing widespread destruction, Carroll sees the futility of the Bush Administration pursuing Star Wars technology. The strategy of the Bush Administration to abrogate international treaties pertaining to arms control and polluting the atmosphere is viewed in the context of the potential disaster that could result for the entire planet from such selfish policies. At a time when well-reasoned diplomacy is essential a lone cowboy "bring `em on" foolhardy policy with potential cataclysmic results has instead been invoked as primitive emotion supplants reason.

For the past few years - ever since Sept. 11th - James Carrol has been devoting his Boston Globe column to issues pertaining to international policy and terrorism. This book is a chronicle of those articles that start just after Sept. 11th.Carrol most certainly has a left-wing take on the war on terror, the war in Iraq, and the Bush admin.'s conduct in general. I would not though, as a disgruntled reviewr below has, dismiss him as a leftover 'hippie.' He is far from that. His critiques are prescient and his rhetoric effective. While sometimes overly-rhetorical and emotionally charged, Carrol tends to be quite calm and tempered in his critiques.His main critiques of the wars on terror and Iraq (and as Carrol seldom tires of asking, "I wonder where next?") are that (a) rather that going to war in retalliation for Sept. 11th, it would have been more effective and humane, to treat the event as a breach of international law and pursue al Quaeda and the perpetrators as criminals, rather than combatants. (2) What in the hell did Iraq have to do with terrorism as it relates to al Queada and is this a weapon of mass distraction? (3) As international leaders, we should be setting an example to follow. Instead, we have shown the international community that preemptive attacks are acceptable and, by effect, have sent nations like North Korea clamouring to get nuclear weapons so they can do it too.There are certainly objections that can be noted to these arguments but all in all, Carrol presents his case well. The only thing I did not like about the book is that being a collection of short essays, it never allowed Carrol to pursue a compelling line of argument for more than three pages at a shot. Other than that, the book is a good one.

Readers familiar with James Carroll's BOSTON GLOBE columns and other writing know that he regularly delivers commentaries of the first caliber. He manages to combine a strong sense of religious devotion with thoughtful political insight, two branches of human thought that don't often grow on the same tree. His day-by-day analysis of how the Bush administration was blundering its way into the worst military mistake in American history is highly readable and often remains accurate. That's something that can't be said for many of the other commentators who wrote during the same period when these essays were first published, between 9/11 and 2004.

I thought there would be more stories than there are. The works are not as challenging as I thought they'd be. The third grade book was so good, so I thought this one would be too. I was wrong. Not worth the LONG delivery wait.

Five stars! I am at an â€œinfantâ€ beginner level to French and I found this book absolutely helpful. The few points I love are: 1. Short paragraphs accompanied with explanations for some words/phrases. This makes the studying process not too overwhelmed, I felt accomplished after each paragraph done. 2. There is a recap of the words/phrases at the end of each story so I can review/test my progress. This double reinforcement works nice with learning a language. 3. The topics are common daily situations, so you know, whatever you most see everyday, there is a French word for it in the book! 4. The AUDIO makes EVERYTHING better. Listening to what I just studied make things stick to my head much better. Plus I can listen to these on the go, very convenient.This is how I used this books: I read the recap at the end of each story first, then listen to the audio to see how much words I could tell, then study the detailed story.

I thought French: Short Stories for Beginners + Audio was a great book. I took French in High school and 2 semesters in college, and it was a refresher and very easy to follow.I wasn't sure that I would be able to follow after years of not reading french (and not really speaking a lot of it). But i found it extremely helpful that the glossary of words within each story assisted in translation.I think this book is great for someone who may need to learn french quickly, for conversational French, someone traveling to French speaking countries. I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in French. It's easy to read and easy to follow the story lines. the MP3 version is VERY helpful in pronunciation. Many people find out hard to follow just the breakdown of words. they may grasp the concept, but be phonetically challenged. Hearing it spoken is a plus!

This book is a great way to learn French. I have studied French before but I learn best when I am fully immersed in a language. This was a great way to read stories and learn at the same time. It takes some studying and real thinking about the use of words and the order difference from English. But it is a very good way to perfect your French. I have the Kindle version, but I would suggest getting the paper copy so you can make copies and easily keep tabs on certain vocab you may forget.

I have studied French only at school, but I've always consideredmyself an admirer of its beauty. When I saw this book, I thought itwould be a wonderful opportunity for me and other people in the samesituation to brush up my knowledge.The book contains 15 original short stories for beginner to lowintermediate levels, with some English translations throughout them.It's a very fun and entertaining way to learn a language becausestories evolve around different everyday situations, such as family,weather, shopping etc.I had fun reading the stories and using audio (I would take everyopportunity to listen to French people talk) and will recommend"French: Short Stories for Beginners + French Audio" to all myfriends!

I purchased the book French: Short Stories for Beginners + French Audio: Improve your reading and listening skills in French. Learn French with Stories (French Short Stories Book 1). I got the Kindle Edition. I love it! I took three years of French in High School. But, that was 15 years ago. I have retained some very basic knowledge of the language. I want to pick it up again. I thought this might be a good way to go. I was right. The book is made up of short stories making it interesting and easy to read even if you only have a few minutes at a time. Within the stories are bold print words and short phrases. After each paragraph, those words are listed with their translations. So, when I got stuck, I just peeked ahead to the list and could get moving again. At the end of the chapter there is a full list of the vocabulary for review. I was always better at reading French than listening to a conversation in French. The audiobook download (the instructions are at the end of the Kindle Edition book) is a terrific part of the book. You get the best of both worlds! After I brush up my reading skills, I can use it as an audiobook to improve pronunciation and conversational skills. At the end of the book there is contact information, if you should have any problems. They really have you covered! This is a fun learning tool. I just pop my Kindle in my bag and I am studying French on my lunch break and even while waiting in the doctor's office. I would highly recommend this book to anyone starting out or brushing up French language skills.

I bought this book not having studied the French language in almost ten years, and while I had lost most of the language over the years, this book benefited me very quickly. From the first story, I was picking up on words here and there, and by the end of it, I was thinking in French again without having to translate to English to understand. That being said, this book would help literally anyone at any stage of learning the language. It even encourages you to not get stuck and tackles issues that a lot of other language learning books ignore, like how direct translation can hinder learning. I'm struggling to find anything that I would do to improve this book because it even comes with easy access audio components to ensure that you're pronouncing and understanding the words you're reading correctly. Definitely worth it for anyone considering picking up a language, returning to French, or just a quick refresher.
