I like the pictures and how the story of Jesus is told in this book. Before ordering, I would have liked to take a look inside the book, but that feature wasn't available. I also tried to find out if this book could be ordered as a "board" book for toddlers. I ordered it based upon Little Golden Book's reputation. Here's a description of what's inside the book: The story starts with baby Jesus born in a stable with parents, Mary and Joseph. Later, when Jesus is 12, he travels with his parents to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and He is thrilled to go to the temple. Jesus knows His life work will be for His Father in heaven. John baptizes Jesus, Jesus goes into the desert and when he comes back, He teaches the people to obey God's words. Miracles include feeding the multitude after Jesus blesses a boy's lunch, and stopping the terrible storm when He and the disciples were in a boat on a lake. The story continues with His crucifixion, and it is handled in a gentle way appropriate for children. Plus, it allows parents and grandparents to add more details if the little one is mature enough to understand. (In my family, one child had more questions, but her sibling wasn't ready for more information even though their biological years were the same when they first heard the story.) This book has hard covers with paper pages, so I think I will save it until my grandkids are kindergarten age and no longer chew/teethe their books, LOL!
Delivered on time. Cute book for children, though I bought it for an adult friend whose English is limited to understand who Jesus is.
We like a lot of the Little Golden Book stories. This one is about Jesus. It covers His birth, death, resurrection, and a few other moments of his life. The book takes some creative license and this is not one of my favorite children's books about Christ because of that. However, the fact that it covers the important aspect of Jesus's life, death, resurrection and ascension are what caused me to give it 5 stars. It is absolutely age appropriate for even the youngest. We read it to our kids and they are 3 months, 1 year, and 2 years old. While it highlights moments in time during Jesus's life that are important to us as Christians, it adds things and leaves out a few important points (most notably that Jesus is the product of the Holy Spirit having impregnated Mary, who was a virgin when she gave birth). Supplementing stories like this with Bible teaching is always necessary for kids to get the bigger picture of who Jesus was as the Son of God. Good supplemental scriptures to follow up this book with would be Matthew 1:18, Colossians 2:9 and 1st Timothy 3:16, which highlight the divine nature of Jesus. The moments of Jesus's life highlighted in this book are His birth in Bethlehem; visit to the temple as a young boy; baptism by John (it says "God sent a dove from heaven," rather than identifying "The Holy Spirit in the form of a dove"); Jesus's temptation in the desert (However, it excludes the temptation part. It says he went there and prayed for God to show him how to live his life.); generalized references to Jesus's ministry and miracles, specifically calling out healing, feeding 5,000, and stopping the storm; parables, such as "the lilies" are stated in brief; betrayal by Judas; taken by soldiers; delivered up to Pontius Pilate; crucifixion and prayer for forgiveness of the people; empty tomb and resurrection three days after HIs crucifixion; appearance to the disciples prior to ascension into Heaven, along with the command to his followers to teach people His words; promise that He'll always be with his followers "...until the end of the world."It doesn't cover salvation, but it give kids a good grounding for understanding who Jesus was.
I liked this story a lot. It was a good pharaphrased version of Jesus's life. I purchased it as part of an Easter gift for my toddlers. I had a hard time finding a good story book to desrcibe Jesus's death and ressurection and this did a pretty good job doing so!
A little dry for a preschooler. Cute pictures but the words were not as child friendly or developmentally appropriate as I would have hoped. Quickly bored my son. Was hoping for better.
Love this little book for nighttime story for my grand children! Provides education about Jesus! Great book and great price!
I bought this for my two year old daughter and she loves this book. I let her pick one book at night for me to read to her before she falls asleep. As she picks this book out, she says "Jesus" book... She really enjoys this book and loves the colorful pictures shown as I read to her. This is a good book to introduce who Jesus is and what He has done for us: Birth, Teacher, Death and Resurrection!
I read this to our grandchildren. It's a simple introduction to who Jesus is and starts conversations with little ones based on their questions and observations.
