Judyth Vary Baker (née Judyth Anne Vary) is an American artist, writer and poet. Born May 15, 1943, in South Bend, Indiana, she first became known as a young prodigy in cancer research, then, later, for her assertion (in 1999) that while conducting cancer research in New Orleans, in the summer of 1963, she had a love affair with Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Edward T. Haslam is the author of Dr. Mary's Monkey. He lives in Bradenton, Florida.

I discovered this book from reading Edward Haslam book Dr. Mary's Monkey. I have interest in these event because all this is taking place in New Orleans and I am born, raised and still reside in south Louisiana. On a personal level, when I learned in school about the JFK assassination or watched documentaries on it, I would look at the pictures of Oswald and think "He doesn't look like a monster. Actually he looks kind." Over the past several years, more evidence and conspiracies have come out to suggest or prove to some that Oswald was innocent and a patsy.We meet Judyth. A bright, young and talented woman destined for science stardom. (We even have made progress in laboratories thanks to her). She takes us on a journey, of ultimately a few months. Having become best friends and eventually lovers, Judyth displays a side of Lee that I hope is true. Soft, caring, intelligent, and innocent. The only thing I question is literally that the dates (which are everyday) and the events and conversations that happened. Did she actually keep a diary? I don't know. However I don't let that distract me from the book. I personally do believe her story. I would love to see a movie made from her story.Though the book is a bit long (almost 600 pages) It gives a detailed look into the point she is trying to prove: Who is involved in the cancer epidemic and who did not kill JFK. I highly recommend to read Dr. Mary's Monkey in companion.

This lady is an extraordinary person. Having intuitively known that Lee Harvey Oswald was an innocent man by virtue of the evidence which does not, by the way, place him on the sixth floor of the TSBD where the three shots were allegedly fired. Instead, as Jim Garrison said in "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" that Oswald "was a genuine hero". In Judyth's book, we get the picture of a very thoughtful, intelligent and courageous young man who was led into thinking he was defending his country. My faith in Lee Harvey Oswald tripled after reading this book and my meager faith in the government has altogether disappeared. I'm certain it will do the same for any other intrepid reader willing to dare!

I very much like this book, it was courageous to write for the author, and it was well documented! I would buy it again, and was happy with my purchase. Ms. Baker brings into the story of the JFK assassination a detailed and personal account of her experience with Lee Harvey Oswald and an interesting look at her experiences in New Orleans in her younger years. I very much enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to other readers. I have studied the JFK Assassination for years, and this filled in some details l did not have before and I appreciate the author's efforts. Backed up by the author of Mary's Monkey, whom I trust, is the efforts that Ms. Baker courageously gave and wrote. You will not be disappointed in the purchase of this book. Thank you.

This book will convince the reader that Lee Harvey Oswald was a patsy for JFK's murder.I kept wondering how this info did not come out years ago. I still wondered until I got near the book's end. Then it made sense.The author, Judyth Vary Baker, has included documents and pictures to add authenticity to this true story.I would like to believe that most reasonable people do not believe that a lone gunman murdered President John Kennedy.I started studying the JFK murder in 1975. There are many good books out there, but this is the book that convince skeptics there is a lot more going on than the general public knows. Please read this powerful book - you won't get to know who pulled the trigger, but you will get to know who did not.

This book is best read in conjunction with DR. MARY''S MONKEY by Haslam. This way the picture of the conspiracy, involving the JFK assassination and other world events of the time, is seen more fully. I consider these 2 books to be the best historical documents on the subject, and both of them are easy to read. Me & Lee is especially hard to put down

Reading this, I got the feeling that Lee Oswald was an entirely different person than we've been told for decades. Although I could see how Judythâ€™s view of him could be rose-colored, looking through the eyes of love as well as her grief, I believe that the side of him portrayed in her story is much more real than the one portrayed by those who needed him to look like a loser. I've read numerous books about the many different people involved in JFK's murder, but this is unlike any of the others I've read. This is as much of an biography of Lee Oswald as I've ever seen - and right up until the night of November 21, 1963! For the first time we see HIS side of the story as told by Judyth Vary Baker. I'm very, very glad I read this! Thank you, Judyth for sharing your story, a story that no one else could have shared. Just an afterthought - In my opinion of the film footage where they are asking Oswald if he killed the president and he responds with a no answer, then they tell him, "You have been charged with killing the president", his visual response is not one of surprise, but instead, one of silent, angry acceptance of what had been done to him.

Ok...amazing! I wish I had read this marriage book about 9 years and 20 marriage books ago! This book changed the way I viewed EVERYTHING. I saw some reviewers mention they read Crazy Love by Francis Chan first which is what drew them to this, so I'm doing the opposite. I loved this one SO much I am going to read Crazy Love next! I've handed my copy off to a friend and I've recommended to many others. Everyone who has read it has told me they've been spreading the word. It was eye-opening for me as a wife and mother, to realize that living a Christian life is MUCH much more than having a happy family. My kids are still toddlers and I'm SO thankful for having read this book now so that we can truly center our marriage and family around Christ and show our children that living the authentic Christian life is more than just trying to be a perfect family. The book dives into much more, but that parenting chapter towards the end really hit me hard! (In a good way!!).I can't say enough for how genuinely inspirational this whole book was! It's one I couldn't put down and I can't wait to get it back so I can read it again.

This cookbook is amazing! My daughter is 16 and has taken a few years of French. This amazing, easy to follow cookbook really explains the prep and cooking process.

It's so important to think about multi-generational cooking these days, what with the busy world we live in, and this book addresses that need with ease and fun. I love that it's got something for everyone. It's sophisticated enough to keep the attention of an advanced grownup chef, yet so thoroughly explained and broken down, that children will happily cook from it as well.

Mardi perfectly balances her recipes to ensure the delicious â€œreal foodâ€ recipes she shares are attainable for young cooks, while desirable to all palates. Leveraging years as in instructor to boys aged 7-12 (Les Petits Chefs), she knows first hand how much they can accomplish with a bit of guidance and the right recipe. Enlightening to many of us who default to aiming for â€œkid foodâ€ when cooking with our children, I only wish this book was published when my sons were a bit younger. But they are benefiting from it now, and I am learning a trick or two myself ! The anecdotes, personal history and stunning photos (oh those little hands !!) just add to the universal appeal. Iâ€™ve used her tip for buying the â€œpetits-beurreâ€ cookie cutters and attached them to copies of the book as a gift !

Iâ€™ve followed Mardi for years as she has shared her love of French food with her littles. Theyâ€™ve had great adventures. Now she is sharing her recipes with this book! I happen to be making her recipe for baguettes right now. Great recipes that will challenge your young chef...and truth be told, will likely become a go-to for adults as well. Her enthusiasm and joy in both the food and the kids make this a great cookbook. Iâ€™ll be ordering more at the holidays. Great gift!!

I love to cook with my kids and this book is terrific. The recipes are simple enough for children to follow but yield sophisticated flavors that both adults and kids would enjoy. Every page we turn, we want to try another one! There really is something for everyone's tastes. We can highly recommend the quick croissants and the eclairs for a fun (and French!) delicious treat!

So far I've tried three recipes from this, all of which worked out perfectly - including making my own choux pastry for two batches of gougÃ¨res / cheese puffs (for the second batch I used a much better Swiss gruyere, which I'd recommend, but they were almost as good with the basic supermarket cheddar). The recipes are really straightforward and use pretty common ingredients, the ones I've tried at least were remarkably quick to put together too: cheese puffs, a strawberry tart, and crispy fish with lemon (I doubled the lemon zest, but only because I love lemon). The strawberry tart was beautiful - and ridiculously Instagram-friendly. We have a lot of raspberries in New York right now so I'm planning to try this with raspberries next.

From birth, my 9 year old has always been a reluctant eater. I've bought loads of "kids" cookbooks, in the hopes that getting him involved in the process would make him more likely to eat what he's made. This is the first one that makes REAL food that a person with tastebuds would actually want to eat, with clear step-by-step instructions. So many kids cookbooks have vague, frustrating recipes for "cute" food. I don't care if it's shaped like an animal--if it doesn't taste good, my kid isn't going to eat it. The recipes that my son and I have made from In the French Kitchen with Kids have all turned out great, and most importantly, MY SON ATE THEM and wanted to help cook them. So far, we've made Steak Frites, Pork Chops with Apples, Crunchy Fish Cakes, Rustic Oven-Baked Ratatouille, and Buttery Green Beans with Toasted Almonds. Mardi Michels knows her way around French food, AND knows how to get kids involved in the kitchen. HIGHLY recommend!

My teens like to eat and it was time to get them in the kitchen. You can tell this book was written with a lot of knowledge of teaching kids and with a lot of love. My two kids (12 and 15) have enjoyed picking out recipes and making things. The nice part is that it built their confidence in the kitchen and has made them excited to try cooking (and eating!) new things.

Not sure why there aren't more 5 stars on this. While this is jensons older work, this is a totally compelling work on Lutheranism. Highly recommend!

This was used as a textbook for a diakonia class. It helped explain and put into context the various documents in the Book of Concord. I like how it noted which sections of which documents were covered by each chapter; however, the referenced titles of the sections/articles for these documents did not always match what was used in my edition of the Book of Concord.

This was a present for a friend. She thought it was obtuse and easily confusing.

I write this review as an ecumenically-minded Eastern Orthodox Christian who enjoys the study of Lutheranism, esp. the theology of Philip Melanchthon, the father of systematic Lutheranism.Keep in mind that this book came out in 1976 and has not been updated. So when it comes to addressing the "issues of the day", something that the authors don't do all that much on, they mention the Vietnam War (from a very left-wing perspective) and race relations. This wonderful introduction to the heart of Lutheran theology and ethics screams for an updated version, one that addresses more relevant issues like recent events in the ecumenical movement (e.g., the 1998 Joint Declaration on Justification between the Lutheran World Federation and the Roman Catholic Church), women's ordination, the sexual revolution & birth control, euthanasia, abortion, and homosexuality.Two important things must be kept in mind by the reader. First, this work attempts to address the various issues while always keeping at the fore the Lutheran emphasis on justification by faith. That is the primary lens by which all else is viewed. Second, the authors do a great job comparing and contrasting the core of systematic Lutheranism: Melanchthon (Augsburg Confession, Apology to same, Treatise on the Power & Primacy of the Pope, his Loci Communes, and his other writings), Luther (Smalcald Articles, his two catechisms, and various writings), and the final outline and boundaries as set in the Formula of Concord (which tends to be more Luther over Melanchthon). This is not a one-sided picture, but one that tries to show the various discussions by "Philippists" and "Gnesio-Lutherans" in the 1540s-1570s and the final compromises made in the 1570s.One reason I like of this work is that the authors accept the premise that Lutheranism remains a work in progress. That the Book of Concord sets some boundaries. But that there is much in the Lutheran message that may still be developed if only Lutheranism really took seriously the core messages of Law-Gospel and Justification, esp. in regard to removing or at least reducing residual influences of philosophy, both that of Aristotle as well as the medieval Roman Catholic scholastics, which Melanchthon, Luther, et al tended to accept without realizing how it impacted the transmission of their thoughts.My only real complaint is that often the authors seem more to hint at issues or ideas without giving specific examples as to how they are to be addressed. We see this, for example, in regard to their views on the episcopacy. They present some views and ideas but then don't really state any specific conclusion, esp. as what they view as being normative or definitive (I get the impression they are very favorable to bishops).My two minor asides, which shows my EO bias, are (1) that there isn't much discussion about the Lutheran liturgy or liturgics. Some good discussion about the Eucharistic real presence, but not much about the overall shape and structure of the Lutheran liturgy, and (2) the same is also true for the lack of discussion about the canon of scripture.I strongly recommend this work to any ecumenically-minded Christians as well as anyone, including Lutherans, who want to learn more about 16th century Lutheranism, its major thinkers of that day, and the Lutheran confessions.

This is a good introduction to Lutheranism as it approaches the subject from both an historical and a theological approach. That alone is salutary given that Lutheranism did not come about in a vacuum and while repeatedly appealing to "Scripture alone" traditional Lutheranism has always avoided a "nuda Scriptura" approach to Scripture common among "Bible and non-denominational" churches. Lutheranism has always understood itself in light of Luther's struggles and honest Lutherans have always conceded Luther's deep imprint on the religion as a whole.The topics covered are broad and comprehensive. My caveat is that the book's presentation of Lutheranism is not without its biases. Most notably an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) bias such that even more traditional and even more confessionally minded Lutherans might be displeased by a number of the authors' assumptions such as their description of the Formula of Concord's Christology as a monstrosity.Still a good intro, though this should be read only as one resource among many.

I bought this book because I needed to learn the foundation of drawing flowers. I was never terrible before but it was always a hit or miss and often times I'd be sitting there staring at my page thinking I don't know what I'm doing at all. But I bought the book and saw results that I would have never DREAMED of, and the crazy part is that they were instant. I started doodling and I'm like what the heck I can actually draw! Most how-to books give you some tips and it takes time but somehow Alli dummy-proofed this and it blew my mind! Seriously, amazing! Can't wait to have more time to go through it all. Thanks Alli for sharing your knowledge and making me feel so much more confident in my ability to draw!

I'm a handlettering and watercolor artist who regularly uses florals to enhance my work. I am always struggling to think of flowers (I usually just make up imaginary florals to be honest) so when I saw this book I knew I had to have it. First of all, this book as absolutely gorgeous and I would buy it for that reason alone. Secondly and more importantly, Alli's instructions are so clear and helpful if you're looking to step up your floral illustrations. You will surprise yourself every time you finish drawing a flower and it turns out so beautifully! Some may be concerned that they'll be drawing the same version of each flower every time or copying Alli's exactly, however her written instructions give insight into the characteristics of each flower and more generalized guidance on her approach to each step so that you can start branching out into drawing your own versions. I've almost made it through the whole book and I already feel that I'm better at visualizing each piece of the flower (like the twists and turns of the petals) as I'm drawing. I see myself referencing this book regularly for inspiration and instruction when I'm looking to draw florals!

I own well over 200 art books including dozens on floral drawing and painting. If I had to choose just one as the most useful it would be this one by Alli Koch. Alli takes you step by step in drawing each type of flower ( the book covers a variety of flowers) and gives you space on every page to practice each step. As the final step inlearning each flower there is a full page to practice the complete blossom. That immediate practice area gives you great feedback before you move on to the next step. Other books offer steps but usually I don't bother to get out a sketch pad and immediately work to see if I am internalizing those steps. I love getting the immediate feedback of seeing if my lines and shading correctly compare to Ali's models.Love this book and would definitely purchase any others that Alli may publish on other flowers or other drawing topics. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for the best way to draw sweet peas with their multiple folds, tulips, daisies, peonies,anemones, sunflowers, dogwoods, camellias, magnolias, proteas,hydrangeas, carnations, lilacs, dahlias, ranunculus, succulents and various leaves.

I'm surprised this hasn't been noted yet, but there were a few things that slipped past the editor of this book- pages 35-45 are missing, and in their place are pages 83-94 (so they're in it twice). Maybe it only happened with a certain printing batch- but either way, I feel a little shafted!Despite these issues, I think the book is beautiful and I like how it has so many varieties of flowers.Hope to see these problems revised in an updated edition!

First off, I don't typically write reviews. Like, EVER. I bought this with the hope that I would become more confident in my skills as a professional doodler. I don't have one artistic bone in my body, but the step-by-step instructions in How to Draw Modern Florals made drawing so simple for me. This was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time!

You should have seen me try to draw anything floral before. I opened this book thinking it would probably take me a little longer than others to catch on because I am truly a beginner to drawing flowers but Alli makes it SO SEAMLESS. Her step by step makes you understand WHY you draw the lines you draw. Not to mention the design of the book is just gorgeous. I could not recommend this book more!! ðŸ–¤âœ¨I attached a picture of what my first try was. Yes, that was my first try. I hope my first kid comes out that perfect. Just saying.

I work at a really boring telemarketing job where I have a lot of random spurts of downtime, but not enough time to actually do "work" so I decided to grab this book. It's been so freaking great--it basically saves my life in the down time. Plus, I've been following Ali on instagram for a hot minute, so I love her as a person, but then to experience her creativity in a whole other venue has been so cool. It's inspiring not only in creativity but in story. 10//10 would recommend.

This book is so so amazing. On my first time trying these florals, Alli made me feel like an absolute pro!! All my friends will know about this book, I'm so so happy with it! I hope you have so much fun creating these florals like I did!!!
