If you like mountaineering stories, this one is interesting. Rather than describing just one climb, there are three trips to three different mountains covered in this book. That said, I'm not crazy about Mr. Boardman's writing style. Part of it might be his British colloquialisms, but I find his phrasing to be a bit clumsy at times. I had to re-read a number of sections to understand what he was saying. I would probably not want to wade through another of his books.
Another splendid true adventure account by Peter Boardman. It's unfortunate that he died before his time.
Could not find anything in the book I have not read before!
I enjoyed Sacred Summits, Pete's writing style is excellent! He was able to describe his climbs succinctly, and to add interesting personal events.
Love these expedition journals, incredible climbers!!
Well written, and very descriptive. The author takes you with him on each expedition, and draws you into the fear and triumphs. highly recommend this book.
The author started describing the climb of the Snow Mountains in New Guinea with his girlfriend. While an interesting diversion, I was rather disappointed because I was expecting high mountain climbing which Boardman and Bonington are famous for. Finally, they started to climb Gauri Sankar which was a spectacular climb requiring extensive climbing skills. The use of descriptive language was above average so you can really see and feel like you are on the climb with them. The authors also included much detail of the climb many other authors leave out. You will be pleased with the thrill of climbing and the rich use of the English language.
Like snow & the climb. Prefer lifts for snowboarding tho'...
