My eight year is loving this book. I read it first before letting her read it and felt there was only a few things that she didn't apply yet to her but she still read the whole book and we talked about things in the book that she questioned and didn't understand. All in all its a great beginner book and the next book we get will explain about babies as this book only talks about the girls body and the changes coming. Excellent book. As a side note, the previous reviews I read before I purchased the book was excellent and is really helpful in making the decision exactly what book to get.
I really believe this book is aimed at such a wide group of ages. I appreciate the style the information is given, but I think the range of subjects it so broad in age. From beginner information about puberty to the not so beginner information about first visit to a gynecologist. Speaks of healthy eating and goes into eating disorders. Talks about stress and about abusing drugs. While it does it very eloquently from an adult's point of view, my daughter being 9 doesn't know what getting high means. I understand that this conversation needs to happen and it will, but when looking for a book about what is happening to her body, I don't believe I need to cover what getting high exactly means (which it doesn't, just expects it's reader to know what getting high is). I know many will tell me I am living in a bubble, and maybe that is true, but she already has so many concerns about growing up and the changes happening. I don't need to give her more to worry about before she is ready to know about. I do believe the author mostly does a good job of explaining the subjects, but the subjects are broad for a specific age group.
I read this book before giving it to my 10 1/2 year old. It's well written and age appropriate. It has some really great information about development, how to take care of your body, and why god hygiene and eating habits are important. My daughter already said "ew!" to the chapter that touches on boys and romance....good to know puberty isn't in full swing just yet for her :)
I gave this to my 9 year old. I read it first. IT goes over body changes without getting into sex. So it's a great book for them to start learning about the changes and letting you wait a little to get into more mature topics.
Great book for us mom's with daughters just starting to experience the changes in life that all of us females go through. Since I had no idea how to talk to her about these things I found this book a helpful reference that makes those changes seem no so scary to her.
I read the book when it arrived. It's very easy to understand. My daughter and I already started talking about some body changes, but this will help her understand more and maybe ask some questions without being embarrassed. Growing up can be a scary thing, and there is no reason for it to be, with simple, honest answers.
this book is AWESOME. Definitely helped with my 10 year old's questions. We read the book together and it was a good ice breaker. She feels empowered with the knowledge it gave her.
I got this book for my 10 yr old daughter. I wanted to get something to help her learn more about her body and make her more comfortable with how its changing. I also didn't want anything that talked about sex since she is only 10. This book was perfect. As soon as it came she read it cover to cover and felt comfortable asking me about the subjects in the book. Definitely recommend!
